Privacy Policy
Moss Journal is made by Sedir Studio, the publishing name of Fatih Eren Özçelik, an individual developer based in Türkiye. Your journal is personal, so the app is built to keep it with you. We do not collect, sell, or share your personal data.
Your journal entries
Entries you write or dictate are stored only on your device. There is no account, and nothing you write is sent to us. We have no access to your journal.
Backup and restore
You can export a backup file of your entries from the app's settings ("Export Backup") and import it later ("Import Backup"), for example on a new iPhone. The file is created on your device and goes only where you choose to save or send it, such as Files, iCloud Drive, or AirDrop. We never receive it.
The backup file is encoded so it can't be casually read or edited, but it is not protected by a password. Keep it somewhere you trust. If you store it with a service such as iCloud Drive, that service's privacy policy applies.
Purchases
Moss Journal Plus (monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase) is sold through the App Store. Payments are handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive your name, email address, or payment details.
To unlock Plus, the app asks Apple's StoreKit which purchases are active on your Apple Account. This check happens between your device and Apple and is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can manage or cancel a subscription in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions.
Microphone and speech recognition
When you dictate an entry, the app uses your microphone and Apple's speech recognition to turn your voice into text. Recognition runs on your device. Audio is not recorded, saved, or sent to us or anyone else. Only the resulting text is saved, as part of your entry. The app only uses the microphone while you are dictating, and you can revoke access at any time in Settings.
Notifications
Reminders and special-day notifications are scheduled locally on your device. We do not use push notification servers and do not collect device identifiers.
Face ID
If you lock the app with Face ID or your passcode, authentication is handled entirely by iOS. The app never receives your biometric data.
Feedback emails
If you send us feedback from the app or email us, we receive your email address, your message, and the app and iOS version the app adds to the message. We use this only to reply to you and improve the app, and we delete it on request. Emails are stored with our email provider (Google Gmail), whose servers may be located outside Türkiye.
Analytics, ads, and tracking
Moss Journal contains no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDKs. We do not track you across apps or websites.
Children
The app does not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
You can delete all entries at any time with "Delete All Data" in the app's settings. Deleting the app also removes everything stored on your device. Backup files you exported stay wherever you saved them until you delete them.
Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK)
Under Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK), the data controller is Fatih Eren Özçelik (Sedir Studio), Türkiye.
We do not collect your journal entries or any personal data through the app. The only personal data we process is what you send us by email, described under "Feedback emails", which we process based on our legitimate interest in answering you (KVKK Article 5(2)(f)).
Under KVKK Article 11 you have the right to learn whether your personal data is processed, to request information about it, to learn the purpose of processing, to know any third parties it is transferred to in Türkiye or abroad, to request its correction or deletion, to object to results arising from automated analysis, and to claim compensation for damages from unlawful processing. Send requests to privacy@sedirstudio.com. We will reply within 30 days.
